Itinerary:
It’s resurrected, like creatures from The War of the Worlds and other sequels you knew never should have been exposed to the lethal, UV rays of the ozone free, modern earth day! The Gwynns Falls Fire & Smores returns, but has metastasized into a 4-mile hike as the antecedent to campfire. In the spirit of a D.O.A., dry-milk cow, cinematic regurgitation, we hikers we’ll have the opportunity to the experience the glorious horror of “the Tree” from the execrable “Books of Shadows: Blair Witch 2”.

And you don’t have to go far from B-more for this short summertime getaway in the forest. In fact, you don’t have to leave at all! Come and check out Baltimore’s Gwynns Falls Park. We’ll take a moderate hike as the sun goes down to enjoy a campfire while we roast burgers, dogs, and smores --and drink Tang ®, if you diggit. What could possibly be more fun? No wait! Did I say it’s at an old, abandoned girl scout camp? The witch will follow us there. We’ll tell scary stories, call for owls, and if the weather’s good, take a look at what the sky offers. Then, we’ll hike back in the dark with only one flashlight as back up. For those who’ve never been, Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the country at over 1200 acres. From our vantage at the girl scout camp, you can look in all directions over the Gwynns Falls river valley and see nothing but nature. You can also bring you own meal to roast over the flames. You’ll be back in time to get a good night’s sleep for that Sunday Farmer’s Market. The witch is waiting for you.

There are sections which include heavy underbrush. Long pants are recommended as barbed weeds and poison ivy are common.
