Soldiers Delight Conservation, Inc. (SDCI) is a non-profit group which assists the staff of Soldiers Delight with programs, serpentine restoration projects, exhibits and visitor center assistance.

What is the Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area?

Located along the largest serpentine barrens in Maryland, Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area is an unique environment. The area comprises over 39 rare, threatened or endangered plant species as well as rare insects, rocks and minerals. Visitors will enjoy taking a hike on the trails or stopping by the visitor center to see one of the exhibits.

We will be working with SDCI with either removing plants and building wood piles, or if the weather is right, we will help manage controlled burning of said wood piles.

Since this will go until about 2:30 PM, we will be having lunch breaks, so make sure you pack and bring it!
