Baltimore presents its annual lighting of the Washington Monument. Let's get together to enjoy the pre-event festivities and lighting itself (around 7pm). Afterward, we can walk a few blocks and a take a tour of the Baltimore Hostelling International Hostel, a historic mansion in Baltimore currently undergoing renovations. There will also be a concert at the hostel by Chris Laun and the Meteor Maids.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:DC: Take I-95 (or MD-295 to I-95) north to I-395. I-395 turns into a surface street with stoplights; at the first light turn right onto Conway. At the second light, turn left onto Charles St. and go north toward the 600 block of North Charles (maybe 1 mile). Park wherever you can; parking is supposedly free downtown for the event.

From Baltimore: From the north, get downtown to the 600 block of N. Charles and park somewhere. Park wherever you can; parking is supposedly free downtown for the event.

Carpool if possible! A suggested spot to meet might be at a light rail station with parking - you can contact people close to you based on zip code in the RSVP list. Even better, park and take the light rail. Closest stop is Centre St; walk about 3 blocks east and you should see the monument.
