Itinerary:
Please join the MOC for a 15.6 mi. hike that is mostly on the Virginia/West Virginia border.

The Tuscarora Trail is a 252 mile side trail of the Appalachain Trail. The southern terminus is in Shenandoah National Park, and it follows a semi-circle direction, reconnecting with the AT near Carlisle, PA.

This hike will start out of the Hawk Recreation Area with a steep and rocky 1000 ft. climb. We will stay mostly on the ridge until we get to the Paul Gerhard Memorial Shelter, where we will eat lunch and turn around. Since it is an out and back hike, we will have a steep and rocky 1000 ft descent to end the hike.

According to the PATC guidebook, our wildflower encounters may include Red Columbine (pictured), Lavender Beard-Tongue, and Star Grass Bloom.

Please note the driving time for this hike.
