Itinerary:
This walking tour is a fascinating glimpse at Irish life in the 1840's.

We will start the tour at the place where the Irish worked, the B&O Railroad yards. A short walk away, we will continue the tour at the Irish Shrine, where you will have the opportunity to explore the narrow alley houses where the Irish workers lived. We will then walk up Poppleton Street to St. Peter's Church, where we will be greeted and be given information on the history of the church.

The tour will stop for a quick lunch at Patrick's of Pratt Street, a local Irish pub. After lunch, we will wind up our day with a visit to St. Peter's Cemetery.

The first half of the tour takes about 1.5 hours. After the 45 minute lunch break, the second half of the tour goes to St. Peter's Cemetery, which is about a 15 minute drive from the B&O Railroad Museum. After a short introduction to the cemetery, you will have an opportunity to explore the grounds on your own.

The tour is free. Contributions to the Railroad Historical District Corporation or purchases of bricks are always welcome, and can be made during the tour.
