This weekend-long bike trip will start on Saturday morning at Antietam Creek campground near Sharpsburg, MD, and go about 30 miles along the towpath of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal to a campground (Jordan Junction) just past the town of Williamsport. We then will return by the same route on Sunday. This bike ride is intended for those who would like to train for doing the entire C&O Canal sometime in the future.

Everyone is expected to bring his or her own gear, food, and camping equipment (although sharing tents is encouraged). People are encouraged to bring light fare with regard to food (since we'll all have limited storage capacity on the ride, communal meals won't be practicable). The canal is well-equipped with potable water sources (they won't win any taste contests, but they're safe and plentiful), so all you'll need to bring is a single modest water container.

Required Items to Bring:
- Helmet
- Bike appropriate for rough/gravel surface
- Panniers (saddle bags)
- Air pump
- Extra tubes for tires
- Lightweight clothing
- Raingear
- Backpacking weight tent
- Water bottles or camelbak
- Bike light or lantern
- For other lightweight camping gear, see the MOC's backpacking checklist.
- Money for campsite
