This bike trip will go most of the length of the Mt. Vernon Trail--14.5 miles each way between Gravelly Point near the National Airport and George Washington's Mt. Vernon plantation. The route will take us along one of DC's most well-traveled bike paths, through Old Town Alexandria, and down to the historic home of the first president. This is a long trip at about 30 miles, and not for the faint of heart. It is, however, over mostly flat or gently rolling terrain, and is completely paved. After we get to Mt. Vernon, we'll spend some time touring the house and the grounds before heading back.
