We'll do an overnight at Greenridge State Forest. On saturday morning, we'll leave from headquarters and hike along the Pine Lick and Long Pond trails for about 12 miles, and camp near the C&O canal. On sunday we'll go back to headquarters the same way and return home. Terrain is fairly hilly. Topos can be ordered at 301-478-3124.

Required Items to Bring:
Tow-day backpack
Synthetic thermal wicking layers for upper and lower body
Fleece jacket or wool sweater
Fleece pants
Windproof/waterproof jacket
Windproof/waterproof pants/bibs
Thick wool or synthetic socks (bring extra)
Balaclava or face mask
Insulated, waterproof gloves
Insulated, waterproof footwear
Sturdy winter tent (can be shared)
Winter sleeping bag (rated 15 degrees or lower)
Sleeping pad
Stove and fuel (can be shared; must work at low temperatures)
Fire starter (e.g. storm-proof matches or flint)
Headlamp w extra batteries
Snacks: powerbars, trailmix etc
Freeze dried meals or similar
Breakfast: oatmeal or similar, tea, hot chocolate etc
Nalgene bottles (with wide mouth)
Toilet paper
Plastic whistle

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From Washington, D.C./Baltimore: (Travel time approximately 2 hours.) Take I-70 west to I-68 west. Take exit #64 (M.V. Smith Road). Make a right onto M.V. Smith Road. The Headquarters Drive is on the right after crossing I-68.
