Itinerary:
Please join the MOC for a long & fun Spring Day Hike. We will go appx. 13 miles on the Appalachian Trail just south of Harpers Ferry.

The first part of the hike will be a gradual 600 ft climb. After 3.6 mi. of going south, we'll have a nice break at the Buzzard Rocks overlook.

The trail flattens out for a while, and then we'll have another gradual climb (200 ft) to the side trail for the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club's Blackburn Trail Center. There, we'll have the the option of eating lunch on picnic tables outside or inside. Also, water is available at Blackburn. The hike down and back out of Blackburn is short but rather steep, so some may choose to stay at the overlook on top of the ridge.

The way back is almost all flat and downhill - we'll lose about 700 ft.

Terrain is very rocky in a few areas, but for the most part not too bad.

Required Items to Bring:
- Footwear for rocky terrain
- Review the MOC's hiking checklist for appropriate equipment
- Packed lunch
- Plenty of water (at least 2 litres)
- Sunscreen
- Insect Repellant
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
