Itinerary:
Join the MOC for a challenging but very rewarding circuit day hike on the VA/West VA border in the George Washington National Forest (GWNF). This hike is twelve miles long, with elevation change of 2256 feet. We will hike along the Little Stony Creek, Tuscarora, Mill Mountain, and Big Schloss Cutoff Trails to complete this circuit. (See PATC Map F, Great Mountain-North Half, GWNF) The highlight is the spur trail we take to the Big Schloss rock formation, with expansive views of two states. brbr font class=warningFor this event, we would like everyone to plan on meeting at the carpool location (even if you are not intending to car pool), due to the long travel distance and the extremely limited parking at the trailhead./font brbr

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From DC:br Take I-66 W towards Front Royal, merge onto I-81 south 17 miles, exit on VA42 West (Exit 283) for 6 miles, in Columbia Furnace right on VA675. Immediately after the creek bridge turn left (Wolf Gap Road VA675) for approx. 3.5 miles and turn right on to Forest Road (FR) 92. Parking area at Little Stoney Creek trailhead is 3.7 miles down FR 92 from its junction with VA675. brbr From Baltimore:br Take I-95 South to I-495 West (DC Beltway). Follow I-495 to I-66 W, then use directions above.
