Note: This is an EXPLORATORY trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, then there is an increased chance of things not going as planned, and as such, you need to be prepared for such. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Yep---hopefully third time's the charm!  Note that: bad weather the day of--  will cause the hike to be rescheduled.

Note 2:  The box is checked as an 'exploratory' hike.  I've been here before-- but not since 2007, so we may be going off script.

Lunch in the area after may be a possibility.

This is a moderate 7.5 mile loop in Catoctin National Park, MD. It features a pleasant walk along Big Hunting Creek on an un-official fisherman’s trail, 1200 feet of total elevation gain and what seems like one great vista after another. Being about an hour and thirty minutes away from Baltimore and Washington and mere minutes from the Pennsylvania border makes this is a very popular hiking venue in the region. With its popularity come the crowds. The trail decriptions may be found here:

We will meet at the Catoctin Mountain visitor center; there is a googlemaps link on the website  which will give you directions to the visitors' center.
