Eastern Shore Bike Ride

One of the best ways to enjoy some of the nautical heritage and rural charm of Maryland’s eastern shore is on a bicycle.

This bike ride will begin in Easton, Maryland, where we will bike to historic and picturesque Oxford.  There, we will take a small ferry across the Tred Avon River and continue on to St. Michaels where will have lunch.  After our visit to St. Michaels, we will ride back to our starting point in Easton.

The ride will be in three segments for a total distance of about 30 miles.  It will be at a moderate pace and best of all, the terrain is flat!  Since the route is on paved roads, any type of road, mountain, or hybrid bike is suitable.  Helmets are mandatory…no helmet, no ride.

We plan on having lunch at a waterside restaurant in St. Michaels.  If time permits, we can also check out some of the shops in St. Michaels.  (especially the ice cream shop!)

There is a $4.00 (cash) per bike charge for the ferry which is collected individually on the ferry.

Required Items to Bring:
Required: Bike in good working condition Helmet (no exceptions!) Water/sport drink (water bottle and/or Camelbak) Patch kit/spare tube $4.00 cash for ferry/lunch money
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Recommended: Bike lock to secure bike in St. Michaels Pump/tools Sunscreen/first aid kit

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Directions: From the western shore, cross the Bay Bridge onto the eastern shore and at the US 50/301 split, take US 50 towards the beaches. Continue on US 50 for approximately 15 miles after the split and then take the exit (to the right) for Easton Parkway (MD Route 322) just after mile mark 63. Go approximately 3.5 miles to the 6th traffic light (MD Route 333/Oxford Rd.-Peachblossom Rd) and turn left onto Peachblossom Rd. Take the first right onto Hayward Ave. Park along the first block of Hayward Ave.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $12.00 (calculated at total miles (30) * $0.400, effective Wednesday, January 23, 2019). This is based on the current gas, maintenance, and other costs of $0.400 per mile as stated by the IRS & This should be divided by the total number of people in the vehicle (incl driver).
For example: With 4 people in the vehicle, the expense per person on this trip would be $3.00. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

Additional advice: The cost of your trip is up to your driver. Your cost should not be greater than what is listed above, unless there is extenuating circumstances. If you want to be sure about the cost of the trip, check with your driver before you get into the vehicle. If you are the driver of the vehicle, this is a guideline to what you charge and not a rule.
