Join Jim Newman and the Washington Backpackers on an urban - Washington DC sunset tour of the DC monuments, followed up by a visit to the National Christmas Tree.

-*DRF note:  While I'm posting this here, this is Jim Newman's event (see the link to the Washington Backpakers event page here: http://www.meetup.com/dc-backpackers/events/141809382/), and to him goes the credit.  He's generously allowed us to crosspost it here.  His description of the event is here:

This is an event I do every year and great for kids of all ages! We will meet at the Smithsonian Metro Station on the National Mall at 3:45 PM, then walk around the monuments enjoying the sunset and moonrise, ending up at the National Christmas Tree to get warm by the fire and enjoy some of the performances you can find here:

http://www.nps.gov/whho/national_christmas_tree.htm

As always dinner will occur at the end of our hike. Please dress warmly and be prepared to walk a few miles on a windy, chilly evening.
