Sugarloaf Mountain is an oddity, similar to but smaller than Massanutten Mountain further west. It is a solitary mountain that sits in the middle of farmland between the beginning of the Piedmont Plateau and the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is privately owned, and is managed as a nature preserve/public recreation area.

Terrain ranges from hardpack dirt to rocky and rooty. Estimated hiking time is 4 hrs.

As long as Fido is well behaved, he/she is welcome along on this hike. My dogs will be coming along.
