Itinerary:

Hiking the Billy Goat Trail- section A: rock scramble.

NOTE:  while part of this is on the towpath, most is on the trail- which involves rock scrambles, and at least some significiant climb on exposed rock,  If you've a fear of heights, or bad knees, this may not be for you.  No Dogs. Rain the day of cancels/ rescheudles....wet granite is not fun.

There's a gravel/ dirt parking lot across the road from the Old Anglers' Inn (10800 MacArthur Blvd, Potomac, MD.  We'll meet in that parking lot, closest to the road.

This is a moderate 4 mile hike minutes from the hustle and bustle of our nation’s capitol. It’s a great place to develop “hiking legs”. For a place so close to a major metropolis there is so much …. wild power and natural beauty here as you watch the Potomac force its way through the rocky crags of Great Falls and the narrows just above Mather’s Gorge The hike description is found on the midatlantichikes webiste: http://www.midatlantichikes.com/id163.html

Depending on how the group feels, once we get to the end, we can either walk back on the towpath-- or backtrack, and do the trail in reverse.

Lunch, after, is always an option.
