Itinerary:

"I don't always take mid-week hikes, but when I do, I prefer Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park."

For those who missed my winter hikes to Leakin Park, now you can catch the forest in the full life of summer. Experience some old-growth forest containing Tuliptrees, Red Oaks, and American Beeches approaching 200 years of age with great valley views as we wind our way along the industrial hinterlands, old wealthy estates, and…old girl scout camps with great views of the whole. You can’t even tell you’re in the city. With any luck, we’ll hear some toads or other amphibian friends…if you like that sort of thing.

Then off to La Palapas in nearby Ellicott City for a round of Dos Equis and a nice array of Mexican flavors.

We start at Winans Meadow Trailhead. Look at your map (or your GPS) carefully before you go!

Total Hiking distance is about 3 to 4 miles. The trail will be a mix of paved hiker/biker path, closed old roads, and forest trails. Hike time is about 1.75 hours.
