Fall is Here!

Why my heart goes dancing!
Crisp air embracing,
Orange, brown, red, leaves changing,
Seeking and peeking.
Fall is here!
Will you waltz with me
On carpet of leaves?
Will you’ll sit with me
Drink wine and eat cheese?
Because fall is here!
Rustic cabin in the woods,
Ideal to rest your goods.
Warm stove for cold sole,
Friends to warm your soul.
What better way to spend fall days,
What better way to sleep fall nights.

Enticing isn’t it??

This will be the typical Blackburn Center event, where we will have the use of a large kitchen, a large living room, a large dining area, and really tight sleeping quarters. But, who want’s to sleep when you’re having so much fun? (earplugs strongly recommended).

On Saturday, we can go on a merry little jaunt through the woods, but not to Grandma’s house. Because we all know, she was eaten by the rare, endangered, protected and innocent wolf after she taunted and teased the poor little thing about his big teeth and big eyes. Who can blame him? She probably deserved it. When you play with big teeth, expect to be.... Anyhoot, we’ll hike the AT looking for the ever elusive jackalope, which once roamed the area in mighty herds.

Afterwards, we’ll sit around playing games, drinking hot totties, eating fabulously prepared meals (by yours truly), and getting fat, drunk and happy.

And, at this time of the year, we can only hope all the smelly thru hikers made their way further south! We will have the outhouses all to ourselves and maybe even the outdoor solar showers.

So what do you get for all this, you ask? Well, step right up. Because for the low, low price of attending, you get:

1 very warm primitive cabin, very rustically decorated, in a natural bucolic setting
Choice of a bunk bed with a plastic mattress
3 well-prepared dinners (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
3 hearty breakfasts (Saturday, Sunday and Monday)
2 self-prepared lunch, all the trimmings provided (Saturday and Sunday), and
1 well-worn AT trail (seeing a Thru-Hiker, jackalope, or a wolf not guaranteed, although the ghost of granny still haunts one of the outhouse.)

This does not mean you only eat gourmet food. It'll probably be better than what your mom made for you when you were growing up, but not by much.

I’m also throwing the opportunity to live like our forefathers (and foremothers) and crap in an open pit outhouse. Now, you can’t beat that for this low price! You also get the opportunity to help clean the cabin when we leave, or help out during the weekend by using an authentic wooden handle broom or a dishcloth. Just like in the movies!

** For those that are a little thick to see the meaning, everyone pitches in to help cook and clean. I'm not your mother.**

Rare animal sightings or pornographic displays of animals mating are not guaranteed. No refund will be provided if you don’t have fun. MOC is not responsible if you eat too much and feel too full, wet yourself from laughing, or wake up with a hangover. Parking is limited at the Center so carpooling is mandatory.
