Itinerary:
Two years ago, I led an outing to two of the area's great nature museums, The National Geographic Explorer's Hall & the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.

The combination of the two made sense then and it makes sense now.

We’ll meet up at the National Geographic Explorer’s Hall to briefly check out these following exhibit themes: 1) Innovations for Life in the Developing World & 2) Global Cultures of Water Use.

Then we will take the subway over to the National Art Gallery’ Cascade Cafe for a quick lunch break. Next, we’ll finish up with some of the following highlights/exhibits at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History: 1) The Giant Squid at the Sant Ocean Hall Exhibit, 2) The “Human Hobbits” in the David H. Koch Hall of Human Origins, 3) Forensics Anthropology Lab of the “Written in Bone” Exhibit and 4) The Wittelsbach-Graff Diamond and Hope Diamonds of the Harry S. Winston Gallery National Gem Collection.

After the group pic in front of the African elephant display near the entrance, attendees can either stay with the group or explore the museum on their own.

The point of this event is to shed some light on some of the neat stuff going on at these two nature museums, in particular. So if you can’t make it out for this outing, hopefully you will be able to see these museums some other time!
