|We'll do about 26 mile loop from the Park & Ride. Going west on the Western MD Rail Trail about 12 miles then cross over to the C&O canal towpath for the return trip.|
The rail trail is paved with a very gentle grade. The C&O is packed gravel and dirt, mostly flat but has been eroded from floods and repaired in places.
Helmets are required: no helmet- no ride
We'll eat lunch at the cross over so bring adequate food or snacks.
No carpool since it's difficult with bikes. However, individuals are encouraged to share car ride when practical.
Driving distance is approx 100 miles from either DC or Baltimore
C&O Bicycle in Hancock has rental bikes. $5.25/hr. First come, first serve
|How to Get There:|
|Event Directions:||Baltimore: I-70 west to exit 3 (Hancock E. Main St) Drive about 1/2 mile to commuter Park & Ride. Meet in the commuter lot. From DC: I-270 to I-70 west|
