Itinerary:
Baltimore Harbor is most often seen from afar while driving by on the freeway, but it can be an interesting place when seen from the water. This trip will take you out near the Francis Scott Key Bridge where we'll investigate some of the unusual natural and man-made features of the harbor.

We'll first pay a visit to Fort Carroll, a Civil War-era fort on an artificial island in the harbor that now is home to one of the largest bird nesting spots in the Chesapeake. We'll also head over to Curtis Bay, where there are a number of old rotting ship hulks and is home to the Coast Guard's only shipyard.

Please note that this event is intended for those who have their own kayaks, as there are no boat rentals at the spot where we'll enter the water.

It is also recommended that those who sign up have some experience with paddling in open water. The water at the mouth of the harbor can be rough at times, and we will be paddling near the main shipping channel. This event will be postponed if boating conditions are not ideal.
