Sat, Oct 18 2008 - Spruce Knob Backpacking (View Original Event Details)

Event Organizer(s): Matthew Danowski
Participants:Matthew Danowski, Nils Olson, Brian O'Neill, Michele Morgado, Stacey Budd

Write Up:
We hit great foliage on the way up, though the area we hiked through was a bit past peak. The hike itself ended up being a bit short due to the participants being a lot stronger backpackers than originally anticipated.

The hike in was rather short at only around 4-5 miles, but it was scenic and we did get to see a variety of up, down and flat terrain. We were able to camp next to a nice stream, and we endured a good 30-35 degree night out in the mountains of West Virginia. The next day we did a quick hike back (approximately 3 miles) and ate lunch at a local establishment with a nice West Virginia charm.

Overall, the hiking distance covered was a little short, but there was some nice scenery and was a great weekend to get out and experience the fall.
