Write Up:
What can I say but "WOW!" With 14 MOC's, we cleaned up a section of the marshlands at Fort McHenry during a cleanup event hosted by the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Through a lot of teamwork, a lot of bags of trash and wood was picked up, including a fishing net buried under some rocks. After digging it out like it was buried treasure (arrrgghhh, me mateys!), we put it into the trash bag and waved good-bye to it. Those scurvy scalliwags who tossed that in and let it wash up on shore will have their day! (I can hear you now...Enough with the pirate sayings! Fair enough. Moving on now!)

For three hours, members of the MOC joined with other groups totaling over 100 volunteers and provided a thorough cleaning up of their marshlands. Special thanks to Lulu, John, and Laura from the National Aquarium in Baltimore for their guidance and assistance. With their leads, we cleaned up the area and made it look, in my opinion, quite a lot better.

The pictures here are only a small posting of what we took. Take a look at http://picasaweb.google.com/TerpChemE/CleaningUpFortMcHenry20081115# for more pictures!

I look forward to leading more events of this nature in the future. In 2009, there will 4 more of these Fort McHenry field days and we shall definitely be posting the next one as soon as we have the date!
