Write Up:
Baysox bats were far from explosive before a fireworks night crowd of 6,504 at Prince George's Stadium on Thursday night. However, despite just one hit, Bowie prevailed in a dramatic, 1-0, shutout victory in the rubber-match of a three-game series against the New Haven Ravens.

Baysox starter Mike Paradis and a pair of relievers combined to keep New Haven off the scoreboard and carry Bowie to the win, despite minimal run support. Paradis (4-6) worked six scoreless innings, scattering five hits, while walking three and fanning three to earn the win. Rodney Ormond and Eddy Rodriguez combined to keep the Ravens off the board over the final three innings, with Rodriguez notching his third save of the year by closing out a dramatic ninth inning.

With Bowie leading, 1-0, heading into the final frame, John Ford-Griffin walked and, after two fly outs, Guillermo Quiroz and Paul Chiaffredo delivered back-to-back singles to load the bases. However, on a 2-2 pitch, Rodriguez got Dominic Rich swinging to end the game.

The only run of the contest came in the bottom of the third. Octavio Martinez led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second on a Glen Barker bunt. B.J. Littleton then doubled home Martinez with Bowie's (37-37) only hit of the night and the game's only run.

New Haven (38-37) starter Chris Baker (3-4) allowed only one run and the Littleton hit in six innings of work, but suffered the hard-luck defeat. He walked three and struck out one. Jordan DeJong and Gustavo Chacin held the Baysox hitless over the final three innings.

Bowie's Mike Fontenot went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts to see his 16-game hitting streak come to an end.

In addition to the game, most of us stuck around for the 10 minute firework show following the game. It was well worth it. Great fireworks!
