Seventeen MOC’ers and four MOC canines came out eager for to get in a good hike. What a good day for a hike, with the sun out and temps around 50. After the warmer temps and all the recent rain, I had hoped for an ice free hike. Though the trail was very muddy as predicted, for the most part it was ice free. The group started off at a great pace down the Bunker Hill trail and past the Archery range on the Mango Fork trail. We were able to hold the pace right up to the point we stopped for lunch. Conditions soon changed after lunch as we headed into the rock crawl section. Just before reaching the rock crawl, we found a very narrow section of the trail that still had plenty of very slippery ice. The group, with a few slips, eased their way through this stretch. Though this slowed us down a bit, we still completed the 9 mile hike in 5 hours.
