Write Up:
Despite the "winter storm warning," quite a few of us braved the cold to attend this event. The Fort offered us hot cider and hot chocolate plus an assortment of cookies to fuel us for our journey back in time.

We set off to the fort guided by our knowledgable Park Ranger in period costume, aided by a young fellow to carry our lantern. Along the way, we were met by and visited soldiers from several wars that the fort had seen, though not in chronological order: WWII (the fort saw action as recently as this as a coast guard fire training facility), the Civil War, WWI, War of 1812. We observed their holiday celebrations as we looked in on Civil War prisoners, a WWI hospital (with a very flirty nurse and corporal who was not in the holiday spirit), and supper for the enlisted men from the War of 1812, finishing with an invitation from the Fort's commander from the War of 1812 to stay for the ball and dancing, which was held back in the visitor center of the fort. All the actors played their parts quite well, and the costumes, at least some of which were handmade, were quite well done.

After peeking in at a full "ballroom" where the dancing had begun, we dispersed early to be sure everyone made it home before the "storm."

I highly recommend this event to anyone interested in the upcoming years! Extreme apologies if I got the attendance list wrong - I'm doing it from memory while away in Arkansas ...
