Write Up:
hot, hot, hot. We started off this event by meeting up at the bottom of the mountain, however, as we had anticipated, the parking lot was full, so we caravanned everyone to the East View parking lot near the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain. We started the hike here, but followed the same route, had we parked at the bottom of the mountain.

The first mile was up and down as we headed around the side of the mountain to the West View to have lunch. Along the way we stopped to admire the plants, pick wild blueberries, and take in the spectacular view. When people were done eating, we sat around talking for a bit - and the discussion of the port-a-potties at the parking lot came up. I heard how unclean they were and how the doors would not shut. Eew! I couldn't listen to them talk about this while I was still in the middle of eating - so I went to visit another table.

After lunch drew to a close, we hopped back onto the Mountain Loop Trail, that we began the hike on, and went for almost another mile to pick up the Northern Peaks Trail. We stayed on the Northern Peaks Trail for five miles, hanging out at White Rocks for a while and admiring a rock 'fort' along our path. Many of us were sucking down our water like it was nobody's business - because of the heat. When we got back to where we met up with the Mountain Loop Trail, about eight of our attendees ventured to the summit of the mountain, while the rest of us headed a mile back to wait by the cars. All-in-all, we had a total elevation change for the day at 1,700 feet and walked 8.5 miles.

Great scenery, a bit on the hot side, but great crowd - so the event ended up being a ton of fun, as usual!
