Karaoke Night - The legend begins...

Well, let me start by saying that we had 100% attendance and no one left for at least two and a half hours. By all accounts this activity was a great success…and if you are wondering why well let me do my best to describe some of the action.

Ok, picture a 125-year-old hole in the wall in the heart of Catonsville that used to be a stag bar back in the 50s (as evidenced by the walls covered with pictures of hot cars and hoochie mamas). This place is no larger than a modest 1-bedroom apartment. Now picture about a dozen locals. Add to the mix 15 crazy party-animal MOCers and you can begin to get the idea. While the MOC was in the house…it was OUR little bar…we owned the place!

I have been pondering what was the most memorable moment of the night and there were so many! Each one gets me laughing hysterically so let me share with all of you some of the moments that made this crazy night of singing, drinking and carousing one of the most memorable that I have had in a long time…

Perhaps it was that skinny, middle-aged man getting freaky with Boramy during his powerful performance of ‘Mustang Sally’ or maybe it was B-Man’s impromptu and ‘action-packed’ delivery of ‘Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting’ where he passed the ‘HUs' and ‘HAs' around the bar.…good stuff indeed…

It could have been each time Kate was being romantically serenaded by a local. I also have to give Kate PROPS for her hard-core rendition of Metallica in pig-tails. (Talk about girl power!) Let's not forget about Nate's version of James Brown! He was "gettin' down" with his bad self. I think we all "felt good" watching his smooth moves and "happy feet". The late James Brown would have been proud! (Nate is from Catonsville actually.)

Other noteworthy moments...let me see. Oh yeah, we cannot forget Doug’s classic performance of Tequila! Let me tell you, Pee-Wee Herman had NOTHING on Doug that night and he did not mess up a single lyric! Of course we had a "ringer" in the house with Joy. She put all other singers to shame with her unbelievably great voice...man I just get chills...

Another great moment was when Anne Marie did her little “Booty-Dance” up against Ali while he was delivering one of his classic techno 80s songs. This was Anne’s first event and I knew from that moment that she was going to fit right in to our little club! Oh yeah, let’s also not count out my antics during “Play that funky music WHITE BOY!” although you will have to see the pictures for that one. ;)

Speaking of pictures, of course we had MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER Ruwan in the house so we have 36 great pictures of this crazy event! (although I may decide to remove one or two J) Ruwan is the eternal optimist too, he was crammed back against a dirty wall and standing on a 150 year old radiator just to take clear pictures in this crowded place. Ruwan, you are the MAN!

I have to say that the most memorable moment (for me at least) was when the entire group got up to sing “Bohemian Rhapsody” with such vigor and humor that I nearly cried but I was laughing way to hard for that! We really showed those crazy, locals who the REAL crazy people were that night…the MOCers baby!!!

For all of you reading this that wish you came to the event, we decided to make this a monthly deal so don't miss out on the next one!
