Sat, May 12 2007 - Wyman Park Tree Planting Project (View Original Event Details)|
|Participants:||Katie Stofer, Jason Dickey, Kevin Yue|
A small group of us helped out a larger group of Jones Falls Watershed volunteers plant about 20 trees. We dug holes, mulched, and watered the young trees, which have to be carefully nurtured through the first years of their lives. Some of us also did invasive species removal of garlic mustard and a nasty tree - the princess or empress tree. Kevin and Katie really got into the invasive tree removal, getting to use a cool grasping and levering tool to pull them out by the roots. They were able to clear a significant area that was then planted with a couple of native trees. Lots of good work happened on this beautiful day, and we look forward to working more with the JFWA and other local groups.
