Write Up:
There’s nothing like getting back into the swing of things at a place like Gettysburg just days after you’ve returned from high adventure in South America, especially after Brazilian thieves steal some of your prized possessions when you’re sitting on the beach at Ipanema (as in “Girl from…”). A little bit of Gettysburg gets you back in touch with your inner gringo after having lost some of it on Rio’s mean streets.

Once again, the North vanquished the South as we walked among the monuments on Cemetery Ridge and Little Round Top, and then ventured over to Seminary Ridge and the Virginia Monument crowned with the equestrian statue of Robert E. Lee. General Pickett’s men were around us as we set off over muddy fields, retracing their steps, as we headed back to the Angle and the Copse—the highwater mark of the Confederacy and our hike. And once more, the Lincoln Diner did not disappoint in providing quality dessert fare to complete the day.
