Write Up:
As we gathered at the carpool, we were surprised to see rain starting to fall. The weather was suppsed to lovely! We piled into two cars and headed for Leesburg, traveling through steady rain the entire way. We arrived at the festival just before 11 am, met up with the rest of the attendees, and headed inside. It was still raining. But all the wine tasting, crafts, and food were under huge white tents so we were fine. There were even plenty of tables under cover, so we snagged one and then began our afternoon of tasting.

There were few people at the festival early in the day, probably because of the rain, so we were able to visit many wine booths and taste as many wines as we wished without a wait. 52 wineries in all were there, however Gray Ghost, two MOCers' favorite vineyard, was not there as they were advertised to be. I think the most unusual beverage we tried was a habanero wine. Yowza!! I have no idea what sort of food ones pairs with habanero wine (chili perhaps?), as it was certainly not sipping or a dessert wine (at least not for me!). I think my lips are still stinging!

By about 1pm the sky cleared and the rain moved out, so we were able to enjoy the rest of the day under beautiful blue skies. The wine was wonderful and a number of people made quite a few purchases, the food was very upscale and tasty (but the portions were too small), and a good day was had by all. Most people stayed until the festival ended. And after taking the scenic route back to the carpool (the signage in Leesburg is not the best), we said our goodbyes and went on our respective ways. Another successful MOC event was enjoyed by all.
