Write Up:
There was a great turnout for this hike - maybe because Backpacker Magazine included a write-up of the loop in a recent issue. The perfect low humidity sunny Fall day and a locale within an hour and a half of both D.C. Baltimore probably helped too.

We started on the Appalachian Trail shortly before noon and made the gradual climb up to Chimney Rocks. Since it was such a lovely view, and the weather was so pleasant, we had a very long lunch at the overlook. There were about ten teachers on this hike, so there was a lot of talk about lesson planning.

A walk through a clearing, some weeds and then the fabulous shaded stroll along Tumbling Run followed. After getting back to the parking lot, Rob locked in his keys in his car and used some ingenuity with a stick to get his door open. The group gaved Rob a hearty cheer for his efforts and then took off to Emmitsburg to the Ott House Restaurant. Most of us had either a sandwich or Steak or Chicken or Catfish.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and I hope you had a great time!
