Write Up:
A fun group of nine participants enjoyed an overnight camping trip to For Frederick State Park, near Big Pool, MD. For Matt, Jackie, and Sorina it was their first MOC activity, and they seemed to fit right in. For the rest of us, it was one more reason to appreciate all the hard work that goes into organizing and maintaining the club.

Most of us met at the park and ride on Rt. 32 and I-70 and drove west for about an hour before arriving at the park, a mile from I-70, between Hagerstown and Hancock. We were a little surprised to find a contingent of Boy Scouts camped in an open field at the park, and the park staff at the registration desk couldn't provide much more assistance than to tell us to self register. But once we got to the campground, we had the place mostly to ourselves, which was nice. We took three sites, set up camp, ate some lunch, and headed out for some activities. Most people bicycled to Hancock on the scenic Western Maryland Trail and were rewarded with ice cream. Others rollerbladed on the trail but the 20-mile round trip to Hancock was too far, so they got no dessert.

Back at camp, Matt started a fire, Tim started a grill, and everyone pitched in for a nice dinner. The after-dinner conversation was scintillating. For breakfast we toasted bagels, cooked bacon and eggs, and drank coffee and orange juice. We then broke camp and drove to Hancock and headed farther west on the WMT; most people went on rollerblades and some on bicycles. The weather stayed nice the entire weekend, a little overcast but the temperature was very comfortable and there was no rain. It was another pleasant weekend enjoying the Maryland outdoors.
