Write Up:
A clear and sunny day awaited us early Saturday morning, a respite from the torrential rain of several days before. The possibility of a hot and humid day did not deter our brave group of 27 hikers; indeed many were eager to be outdoors. And so, after brief introductions, we began a short climb up to the ridge where we began to wind our way under the thick umbrella of trees. Passing ripening raspberries and the occasional wild strawberry we ventured deeper into the forest, chatting and laughing much of the way.

Though we didn't see any deer, we passed by the remnants of the park's past when much of it was farmland. We passed an abandoned farmhouse and ancient farm equipment (circa 1930s) whose metal was passively reverting back to its natural state.

Thankfully, we lost no one on our journey, thanks to our diligent co-organizer Colin, who make sure no one fell behind or took a wrong turn. We ended the hike with lunch at a waterfall in the park, enjoying food and good conversation in a great setting.

My thanks to everyone for helping make this a great trip!
