Write Up:
The weather turned out to be beautiful for our trip to the Annual Columbia Wine in the Woods Festival near Merriweather Post Pavilion. We started out meeting at a location two miles from the entrance of the Festival so that we could group and do introductions much easier than after arrival.

Once we arrived, we learned there were two entrances to the Festival and some of our group ended up at one and the other half at the other. No worries…it wasn’t long before we were back together as a group again.

Upon entering, we were handed twenty 1/2 oz wine tasting tickets and a coupon to get a free souvenir wine glass with the Festival logo and year engraved. So, for about the next hour, we wandered around the Festival trying out several wines.

Next, the food was calling our names. We agreed to meet back up near the large stage, about half way back in the crowd, after splitting up to get our different food. Back together at the stage, we watched the Crawdaddies play Zydeco-Rock for about a half hour. They were good!

Back to the wine tastings again, we made sure to try and hit up most of the 14 different wineries. Most of the group seemed to like the Linganore Wines the best, the blueberry, peach, sangria. However, there were other wines here and there that peaked our interest/palette. It was towards the end of the tastings when we figured out there was a Notes sheet in our program, where we could have been recording our favorites the whole time.

We made sure to stop by Woodhall Wine Cellars, to say hi to the folks that helped us out at our Sun, Apr 17 2005 - Mod. Day Hike in GFSP & Wine Tasting event.

In the end, some people stocked up on bottles of wines, and some bought souveniers from the many craft vendors. We ended up staying at the Festival for about 3 hours - before we’d had enough fun. Several of us plan to attend the Maryland Wine Festival in September or maybe even plan another Hike & Wine Tasting event soon.
