Write Up:
The weather did not look promising the night before or the morning of the event, but those who were brave enough to show up were rewarded with a beautiful hiking day. By the time we began the hike, the skies were clear. The trail was a bit wet, but this was not a hindrance. There was only one marked trail, so it was easy to stay on track, and we all were together out and back anyway. We made a couple of quick stops next to the stream for refreshment but otherwise kept a steady pace to the Potomac River. We found a picnic table beside the river for enjoying our lunch and then reversed our trip. Only Ed, in front, managed to spot a few deer, but we did see lots of birds. It was an excellent friendly group and the chatter was constant. Overall it was a terrific day.
