Write Up:
This section of the Appalachian Trail proved to be the most difficult part of the Maryland section. We had two significant climbs of more than 500 feet and one steep descent on sharp rocks. The rocks made for a challenge but no one tripped.

Great views were provided at High Rock and Pen Mar Park. The shaded deck at Pen Mar Park made for a super lunch spot. We even had some locals tell us about the history of the park and how Appalachian Trail thru-hikers used to stop at their house and enjoy pies. A small walk from Pen Mar led to the Pennsylvania state line. There were two signs there--one says "Mason-Dixon Line" and the other says "Welcome to Pennsylvania."

With such a small group, we were able to stay together and had some of the silly conversations that occur during long hikes. One memorable discussion involved a potential MOC Olympics--we came up with many different events and the MOCers most likely to win. Of course, this was all very hypothetical.

Thanks to those who came out and I hope you had a good time!
