Event Organizer(s): Jeff Schneider
Participants:Jeff Schneider, Mike Gorman, Rob, Dmitri Levitas, Debbie Hines, Paul Hines, Larakay Anderson, Ted Hellen

Write Up:
This hike had the common distractions--the threat of a thunderstorm, a slip on a stream crossing, and some immature non-MOCers disturbing the peace at an overlook. There was a happy ending, however. We finished the tough 13-mile hike, and despite a lot of thunder, we avoided a downpour.

At 9:15, we began the hike to High Rock. The organizer was a bit confused, as a large portion of the trail had been rerouted since he last hiked it in the fall. Fortunately, the new route did take us to some scenic meadows.

A few stream crossings followed and no one had any problem rock hopping, except one hiker whose foot slipped off the rock and into the stream. Larakay provided instant relief with an extra pair of (dry) socks. Thanks Larakay!

The climb up to High Rock was a workout, but we were rewarded with the fantastic view. Unfortuantely, there is a parking area at the view, and this led to some Harley bikers joining us. Their loud conversation about various 'issues' didn't make for the most peaceful of lunches.

On the way back, we heard a lot of thunder. It drizzled for a bit, but that was it. Apparently the storm went north of us.

It was a great feeling to finish this hike. Some of us celebrated by getting some ice cream on the way back. Jeff ate too fast and got 'ice cream headache,' but it went away after a few minutes.

Thanks to everyone who came out and I hope you had a good time.
