Write Up:
It was an interesting day from a weather perspective. The threat of thunderstorms scared many people off and the final hike group ending up consisting of nine hearty souls.

The weather was unusually warm and humid for early May, but the ride out was beautiful. We arrived at Old Rag about 15 minutes behind schedule, but still started the hike at 11:30 as intended. The warm weather required frequent breaks, but the group advanced up the trail at a brisk pace. (One note: bring plenty of water and understand the trail difficulty ratings. We encountered a hiker on the trail who was experiencing heat stroke, and it was not a pretty sight!)

The view at the top was very good, but not entirely clear because of the high humidity and the impending storm approaching from the west. The incoming storm forced the group to head down the mountain earlier than desired. It was a good decision, as we made it to the fire road just as it started to sprinkle. The rain never increased much beyond that, but we were concerned. Our concern was warranted as it started to rain hard, just as we packed up to leave. Some call it luck, I just call it good leadership. All in all it was a good trip.
