Write Up:
The Roller Coaster was a rocky journey. While driving to the trailhead, two of us were stopped by Virginia's finest. And then the 9.6 miles of the trail itself provided approximately 4,400 feet of elevation change, two states, and, of course, a ton of rocks.

Still, everyone's knees and ankles held out well and we all finished with plenty of sun left. All participants finished in front of the leader, so the pace was pretty good, too. With all the climbs we made there were plenty of good views and sunbathing to enjoy. There were no bugs to deal with-- only a couple of ATV riders and a surreptitious dog walker. We also saw a couple of PATC trail maintenance workers and our sincere gratitude goes out to the wonderful job they do in maintaining the trail.

When the hiking part was done, sleep seemed more important than food--so we didn't go to out to eat. This did give some of us the opportunity to listen to the second half of the thrilling Maryland basketball game. Four of us even woke up early the next morning to hike another 13 miles with our beloved MOC.

Thanks to those who participated and I hope you had a good time.
