Sun, Sep 21 2003 - Maryland Ren Fest (View Original Event Details)|
|Participants:||Amy Pickwick, Mark Zawodny, Ian Preuss, Tracy Ward Wright, Katherine McColl|
A once postponed event due to rain, we met up just days after Tropical Storm Isabel blew damaging winds through the entire region for Pirate Invasion weekend at the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville, near Annapolis.
Our attendees enjoyed the turkey legs, dipped chocolate cheese cake on a stick, beer tastings, shopping, and a bunch of shows:
Johnny Fox at the Royal Stage - entertaining audiences at the MD Ren Fest for 20 years, Johnny is known for his sword swallowing, magic, and quick wit.
Shakespeare's Scum - returning to the MD Ren Fest for their 17th year, they put on the hilarious 'MacBeth in 20 Minutes or Less' skit at the Globe Theatre.
The Rogues, Bad Boys of Celtic Music at the Lyric Stage - entertained us with their Celtic music, dancing, and 'school girl' on the stage.
Next, we moved onto the Joust Arena for the Human Chess Game followed by the Free Lancers with the King in our presence. Human Chess mixes a game of strategy and intellect with spectacular brute force. The pieces fought for their lives to entertain the crowd. The Free Lancers entertained us with their action-packed combat, with full armor on the most beautiful of steeds.
We look forward to the faire next year and hope that more of you can make it for this look back in time!
