Write Up:
In PetSmart, at approximately 12:00 pm on Saturday, 20 MOC members set out on a quest to find homes for some poor, helpless animals--and oh, we also saw a movie. The entire event lasted about seven hours, the first four of which we were at PetSmart. The time was well spent. In total we found foster/permanent homes for twelve dogs and one cat, which is at least twice the normal amount according to Theresa Caton of the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation!

We first were given a short briefing on how to handle the animals we would be attempting to get adopted. Then the group split in to dog people and cat people. I was accompanied by Emily, Jennirfer, and Donna to the cat area, while the rest of the group began showing off their dogs.

The cats were a little scared when they arrived, but most of them relaxed after being let out of their carrying boxes. We carried them around and played with them while giving potential adopters information on the animals' backgrounds. By the end the cats were pretty worn out and most of them probably would have fallen asleep if not for the hustle and bustle of the store environment.

The rest of the group walked the dogs around the store as well as outside, trying to catch adopters' eyes. Apparently they were successful, since so many dogs found homes by the end of the day. It was sad to leave, because he dogs that didn't get adopted wanted to stay.

We left PetSmart and carpooled to the movie theater. There we saw "The Station Agent" while enjoying our meal. I thought the movie was pretty funny, although a little short. After it ended we stuck around and talked for a few minutes, but then the staff started shooing us progressively farther and farther away.
