Write Up:
A perfect hike! A 60-degree sunny day, a great view for a relaxing lunch, 11.6 miles of trail, and an enjoyable dinner afterwards.

We started promptly at 9:15 AM to ensure we could finish before dark. It was a bit icy in the morning, but it was easy to pass. At 3.7 miles in, we stopped at the new Ed Garvey Shelter. Since I didn't use it, I cannot comment on the condition of the outhouse. The shelter, however, seemed to be top-notch. It was also fun to read the journal entries in the log book. We even left a message plugging the MOC.

After a glorious lunch at the Weaverton Cliffs overlook, we began the 5.8 miles back to Gathland. There was a little climb, so some of us actually broke a sweat. After the hike, most of us headed down Route 40 to Frederick's China Garden (that's a restaurant, not an actual garden). The efficient service and delicious food made a great end to the outing.
