Write Up:
With such nice weather, it was too bad I was feeling under the weather with a bad head cold, and unable to enjoy it to the max. Good thing was, we had a great turn out on this event, at 23 people, and two dogs, and it was nice to get to know everyone on the trail.

Signs of the newly arrived Spring were definitely in the air with temperature reaching the 60's, hot sun, and cool breeze.

Due to changes in the park in the last year, we had to start the hike from the maintenance yard, where a parking lot is located for day-use visitors. We walked down the park access road a little ways and had packed lunch at the amphitheater behind the nature center. At 1:30 PM, we hit the 4.1 mile trail, breaking at times for the dogs to play in the creek and to watch the ants building their massive, million-dollar homes on the Mound Builder Trail. In 2 hours the hike was done, and we walked back on the access road to our cars.

Thanks everyone for the great company and stories. Hope the hike was easy enough for you, but also challenging at times.

(This hike taken from Hiking Maryland & Delaware, available at our online books & magazine shop).
