The MOC enjoyed another trip along the Panther Branch Trail of the Gunpowder Falls State Park in Maryland. The weather started out cold (30 degrees) that day, but it was warm and sunny enough for pleasant hiking by the time we started (40 degrees).
We hiked the path in slightly under 3 hours, and kept pleasant company with two labs who were young at heart and light on the path. We admired the old car and house ruins from a bit of a distance, as recent rains had turned the ground to mush between our path and the relics. We also admired some humongous beaver dams towards the end of the trail; those beavers have been busy!
We then enjoyed a wine tasting of the ‘futures’ wines that the Woodhall vintner is still aging in barrels. Many folks brought and shared cheese, crackers, and fruit, which made for a nice accompaniment to the wine. We ended with a sampling of chocolates and truffles from a local chocolatier. The best part, though, was a chance to congratulate the recently engaged co-leader, Christine Larsen, and her fiancé Tom Reichelderfer, who met at the MOC!
Thanks to all the participants for a lovely time! We look forward to doing this again next year.
