If you want to get a sense of what the transportation infrastructure would look like 60 years after the zombie apocolypse, this is the place to do it. The section was abandoned in 1968 because it was cheaper to relocate the highway than it was to drill additional tunnels to accomodate increased traffic. The turnpike was originally to be a railroad between Philly and Pittsburgh but went bankrupt during construction. In this section you can clearly see how the the turnpike roadbed was laid on the railroad foundation.
