Write Up:
The MOC enjoyed another trip along the Panther Branch Trail of the Gunpowder Falls State Park in Maryland. The weather was cold (20-30 degrees) and windy that day, so many participants decided against joining us (understandably). The hardy six who showed up had a wonderful time, however! The morning wind stopped as soon as we started our hike, and the trees along the path blocked most subsequent wind, so the trip ended up being actually quite nice. Parkton had also had a light sprinkling of snow the night before, making the woods yet more scenic, but not making the path difficult to navigate.

Being a smaller group, we hiked the path in record time – 3 hours. We then enjoyed a wine tasting of the ‘futures’ wines that the Woodhall vintner is still aging in barrels. We especially enjoyed sampling Woodhall’s first experiment at port … It was absolutely wonderful! We don’t think we can wait 2-3 years for that beauty to age! We also sampled a local chocolatier’s truffles from a local chocolatier, Mark Coulbourne of “A Dream of Chocolate.” The chocolatier was even on-hand to talk about his truffles, and dip some in fresh, hot chocolate for us! Absolutely delicious. Especially the mixed white-chocolate and dark-chocolate one. Mmmmm.
