Fri, May 25 2012 - Memorial Day at Ricketts Glen SP (View Original Event Details)|
We had a great weekend camping at Rickett's Glen State Park! The weather was beautiful, not too hot, and cool at night. The Falls Trail was beautiful, even if it was a bit crowded. We enjoyed the 5-7 mile hike, stopping to take in the various waterfalls and to snap some fun photos. We saw a few very LARGE racoons hovering around our camp sites in the evening, and one even got into my backpack that I left out to eat my oreo cookies...they also raided a trash bag we left out and got away with some random food items. They were very bold and not too scared by the people.
Good times were had around the campfire, and Sunday was spent at Lake Rose relaxing on the beach and listening to some mountain music.
Even though the DNR was out patrolling for alcohol (not allowed in PA state parks) and to enforce quiet time, we still managed to keep the fire burning for awhile. All in all, everyone seemed to have an enjoyable and relaxing Memorial Day weekend.
