After 2 previous attemps at doing this trip, the weather finally cooperated for us and we had a perfect weather day!
We headed out on the trail towards the beach, a short 1.8 mile walk. The scenery along the way was pretty. There was a marsh near the end with frogs and turtles sunning themselves. Many birds were out and about.
Arriving at the beach, it was high tide so we were limited to where we could walk. The water was cold, but feet quickly adjusted and we were able to roll up our pant legs and walk in the water. A lot of digging was done, and 2 shark's teeth were turned up. A large mako shark's tooth was found, and a smaller tooth by Pat. The kids seemed to enjoy their time on the beach, as well as the adults. We spent about an hour on the beach then headed back to our cars.
Afterwards, we headed to the Ruddy Duck for a post hike meal and drinks. We had a crowd of about 27 for food and drink...and the food was pretty tasty. The wait staff took very good care of us, and I would definitely plan another post hike meal here. Recommend it for future organizers who want to do this trip.
You can see photos from the hike on the front page of the website.
