Write Up:
After spending the wee morning hours through the early afternoon at the Baltimore Marathon, cheerleading on the MOC runners, a few of us made our way up to Timonium for the annual Maryland Brewer's Oktoberfest at the State Fairgrounds to meet up with other MOCers. To our dismay, we found a long line of anxious patrons waiting to have their photo IDs checked.

After getting through the ID check point, we handed in our entrance tickets for a souvenir stein and six sample beer tickets. A couple of our participants headed off to explore the festivities together while the rest of us found the nearest available table to drink beer, eat food, and socialize. Each sample ticket, gave you about 1/3 of a beer, so essentially you got two beers included in the admission price.

Beer vendors included: Bare Bones Brewing Co., Barley & Hops Micro Brewery, The Brewer's Art, Brewer's Alley, Clay Pipe Brewing Company, Clipper City Brewery, Baltimore Brewing Company, DuClaw Brewing Co., Ellicott Mills Brewing Company, Fordham Brewing Co., Ryleigh's, Summit Station, and White Marsh Brewing Co. There were also many craft and commercial vendors, as well as all the German food selections that you could ask for at an Oktoberfest celebration.

Inside was the Edelweiss Band, who played German classics, such as the German Polka (the Chicken Dance) and got the crowd dancing. Outside were games, rock climbing, and the Kelly Bell 'fat blues' band.

Good time had by all. Next year, let's hope the Marathon and the Oktoberfest don't occur on the same day!
