Sat, Apr 18 2009 - Appalachian Trail maintenance (View Original Event Details)|
|Participants:||Jerry Wright, Lucas Fisher, Scotia Mortensen|
We joined the Mountain Club of Maryland to work on rerouting a severely eroded, steep section of the AT at the Darlington shelter. We hiked in about about a mile from PA 850 to the work site. Clearing the new route went quickly and the southern half was finished shortly after lunch. The northern section was slow going because new treadway has to be dug into a steep hillside slope.
The project will be completed on the next scheduled work trip May 16.
